Married

Daniel and I have been married for nearly 6 months now!  Can you believe it?  January 23 will be 6 months!  I have enjoyed every single second of marriage and I think Daniel could say the same!  Daniel still works at Billy Goat Industries about 1 minute away from our home (can you say spoiled?) and I still work at Hallmark about 10 minutes away from our home.  We have been talking and we really want to get a puppy, but we know we can't have pets at our place now.  We are deciding what to do once our lease is up here in May or June.  Anyway, I just turned 24 two days ago.  I feel so old. :-D My sister Lauren turns 28 today and she is as beautiful as can be!  I surprised her at work this morning with coffee and a cake pop from Starbucks!  She was very surprised.  I walked into her cubicle and said "pssssstt" and she turns and said "omg hi!"  We chatted for a few minutes and I met a co-worker she gets along with :-D.

Mom had back surgery for her pinched nerve last Thursday and came home from the hospital yesterday.  She is relaxing and recovering for about 2 weeks before she returns to work.  She is doing very well!  Daniel and I are excited because all of our regular shows are starting back up this month!  We like to watch The Walking Dead, Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, The Big Bang Theory, and The Office.  I also like to watch Glee and American Idol, which Daniel doesn't particularly like to watch, but he will if I want him to! :-D  I got Guitar Hero for PS3 this Christmas so I enjoy playing that a lot and Daniel has a few games he has been playing a lot too.  Other than that, we are just chillin like an old married couple and loving every minute of it!

Wow!

Wow!  So, it has definitely been quite some time since I have updated this.  I do apologize.  I have one day left of student teaching and then I graduate with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education this Saturday!!!  I am so excited to be finished with school and homework right now.  I will definitely miss those second graders for sure.  My teacher was also very helpful this semester and I learned so much about teaching from her.  Daniel is still enjoying his full time job as a drafter and hopes to move up in that company.

Daniel and I are struggling trying to find a place to live right now.  We have a couple options, but one of them is super hard for us to decide on.  We are trying to figure out our pros and cons right now.

Anyway, besides that, things are getting close and exciting I might add!!!  (80 days woo hoo!!) There are still many small things we still need to take care of for the wedding.  On top of my wedding, I am a maid of honor in my friend Alyssa's wedding at the end of this month and I am singing at my friend Amanda's wedding in mid-June.  I am one busy person right now and am so thankful to be done with this student teaching stuff.  It's a huge load off of my shoulders and now I can really focus on the wedding!  I am super excited about our Italian cookie making party coming up soon I'm sure!  We are going to have a full weekend of making Italian cookies for the wedding.  That's the best part of coming to the wedding, for sure!!

Well I hope you all are happy and healthy at this time in your life!  I hope to keep updating this regularly now.  Love.

Lately...

If you are reading this, you have probably just received your save-the-date in the mail!  We are both so thrilled to have all of you attend our wedding and share the special time in our lives with us!

I have been student teaching and have had a pretty rough time.  This coming week is spring break, then I have to take over the whole school day.  So far, I have been teaching all day except reading and writing.  I need to work on classroom managment, time management, and transitions between subjects.  I am really working hard but am realy unsure if teaching is right for me as my career.  I can still work with children elsewhere without having to make lesson plans and such.  This part really stresses me out.  I have an awesome supporting second grade teacher and I have learned so much from her.  I really like how she organizes everything and keeps things in order.  I really hope to keep in touch with her even after student teaching.

Daniel has been hard at work every day as well.  He is asked to do various tasks at work, even if it is not drafting on the computers.  Of course he jumps in and offers to do anything.  He had the privilege of designing controls for a new machine at work.  He recently got a raise as well!

Anyway, we are living life right now and just waiting for that wedding to roll around!  Love!

Save the Dates

My sister and I created our save the dates for the wedding today!  I am pleased with them!  Now we need to get all addresses and organize them.  Also the save the dates need to be printed!  That will take maybe a week after we get quotes and such.  I am so blessed to have my sister here to help.  She is so talented and it's cool that she gets to design my save the dates and invitations.  Anyway, we are having superbowl fun at Daniel's house tonight with some of his family.  I should be working on school stuff too, but maybe later tonight when I go home I can!  We will see how that goes. Love!

Swing of Things

Wow! It has been quite some time since my last post.  I have been pretty busy lately with wedding planning and student teaching.  The hardest part of wedding planning so far is getting everyone's addresses.  I try to contact as many people as I can through facebook or email just so I have an address that I can see so that I get it correct.  I prefer it this way in case I misunderstand over the phone.  Since we're down to the last people that I cannot talk to on facebook or email, I suppose I just need to call them.  lol  The actual planning is starting to pick back up as well.

I have been loving my student teaching!  I am in 2nd grade and I actually do love this grade.  There are a lot of classroom management strategies I need to work on, but other than that, I love it!  My teacher really is great and so far I agree with how she organizes and plans and everything.  I really like her teaching style!  Right now, I am working on Valentine's Day cards for the kiddos.  I took a picture with each student and am creating cards for them online.  I am excited about this little project!  Hopefully I'll get a picture with my teacher as well!!

Lee's Summit started school on Jan. 4 and I have only been to the school 7 days total.  There were about 6 snow days and a few days of holidays, planning days, and other things.  I have definitely been spoiled with lazy days this January.  I feel I am finally starting to get into the swing of things because this week we have had a full week so far.  It is very tiring for me, but I am able to wake up easily.  I need to start planning a unit for my second graders.  That is our huge project of the semester, as well as putting together a teacher portfolio.

I am off to catch some ZzZzZzZz's but I will be sure to keep you all posted on anything else! Love!

New Year, New Everything

It is a brand new year and I am feeling great about things!  I began student teacher on Friday and really am enjoying it so far!  I can't wait to see what this semester has to offer!  There are a lot of meetings I am required to attend either in LS or in Warrensburg but I am not looking forward to those.  I just want to be in my classroom with my second graders!  I am a nerd because when I got home from the first day of student teaching, I sat down and tried to write as many names as I could remember.  I remembered 22 out of 24!  That's pretty awesome and I'm usually not good with names.  I know this semester will be great because my teacher is so relaxed and organized!  I love it!  When I arrived the first day, she had a whole teachers desk for me to use and she had Miss Townsend spelled out on the front of the desk with magnet letters.  It was awesome and made me feel at home!

Yesterday, I went shopping with my bridesmaids, except for Rikki because she lives in Florida.  We picked her a dress out though and it is very cute!  We were successful at the shop and got everything down on paper, but some still need to be ordered.  My mom also found a dress to wear for the wedding!!  My future mother-in-law unfortunately did not find anything but plans to return shopping at a different time.

It's time to get that planning ball rolling again.  I have sat too long and waited for other things in my life to pass before I continue planning, but this is the time that I need to get everything taken care of!!   Good thing is that I am very motivated and in wedding mode right now!!

I hope you all are enjoying your 2011 and I wish you a healthy rest of your year!  I'll keep you posted!  Love!

Christmas

First of all, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you who read this.  Next, Christmas is not only the celebration of the birthday of Jesus, but a time to spend with family.  This is my favorite part of Christmas!  It's not about the gifts and the materialistic things, but about spending quality time laughing with and being with the ones you love.  Don't get me wrong, I do love opening presents and most of all giving presents!  The people I spend my Christmas with are my mom, dad, sister, grandma, uncles, Daniel, and Daniel's family.  I will miss some of Daniel's family in St. Louis this year because a special little baby Claire Herrington was born.  That side of the family is visiting them there.  This will be Daniel's and my last year unmarried.  Of course Daniel and I had to sit down and decide when we would spend time with each side of the family.  It has worked out nicely and we manage to make it work!  I do want to apologize to everyone for my not so spectacular gifts this year, but that just happens when I don't have a lot of money.  The love is what matters!  I will keep this post simple, by just saying that I love the time I am able to spend with family.  I may not show it enough, but I am more thankful than ever to have my loved ones in my life.  I wish a happy and safe holiday to all of my friends out there.  I am blessed to have you too!  Love you all and Merry Christmas!!!!!!
